Viewpoints

Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) is about gaining consistent views for various stakeholders.
For the sub-area of system and software architectures, views are dealt with in the ISO 42010:2022 standard. We assume here that this standard can be generalized to issues relating to MBSE as a whole. This makes it a good basis not only for system and software architecture, but also for analyses, configuration management, safety, security and verification.
The terminology of the standard must be sharpened for this purpose.
Current Goals

Too many viewpoints can lead to over-modeling. Best practices for defining the purpose and scope of an MSBE model should therefore be developed as preliminary work for the consideration of viewpoints. In this way, the purpose and scope of an MSBE model can be determined so that it can be clarified whether a particular model can serve a viewpoint.
The vision is to generate views on demand.
Our aim is to establish what needs to be defined so that views can be created automatically.
